Brake light bulb for my00 996 c4: what gives?

Probably being VERY dullard here, but I've bought a p21/5w bulb to replace my brake light.
Doesn't fit....doesn't even look the same.
It's a different fitting.
Slightly raised pin config and 2 filaments (guessing 1 for tail light & 1 for brake)
What's the spec for this? Want to get it right as I'm 15 miles away from civilisation (!) and whilst the drive is nice, I've got other things to do as well as this today!!!
