Costco will only fit N rated tyres!

Called costco for a price for some tyres for my 11 year old boxster and they say they will only fit Nrated tyres. Anyone else come across this blatant money making nonsense??

Possibly.

Costco will have taken a decision that as Porsche only permit N rated tyres, they're not going to risk being held accountable if they put Hedgefinders on and someone slings their car into a treetop.

Costco only sell Michelin tyres as far as I am aware.

I want Michelin PS3s. And they are about £30 more per tyre than non-N rated; not insignificant when I want 4.

It should be my choice what tyre I fit. And there's no evidence anywhere that says non-N rated tyres are somehow dangerous or less capable than N-rated.

It is your choice, buy them from somewhere other than CostCo!

It's their choice whether to sell you what you want, or not to!!

Correct me if i am wrong but the PS3 has had a poor reception as it is more of an eco tyre? ie, lower grip but longer lasting.

The PS2 is the one isnt it?

I think Costco now sell Continental tyres also. Not as cheap for tyres as they used to be but the 20% (or is it 25%) deal twice a year is generally cheaper than anywhere for PS2s in my experience.

I believe they don't do the 20% deal anymore - but you do get £50 off if you buy 4.

That used to be the case and their Michelin tyres were very keenly oriced. More recently their prices have risen to the point where they arent competitive and they now offer other brands to fill the price gap.

Yep, the PS3 is the wrong tyre.

PS2 replacement was the MPSS.

When I spoke to them last their directive from the states was that fitting anything other than N rated could land them in court stateside.

You could take the wheels in loose, from your 'Golf'. Not the hardest problem to get around, if you apply yourself to it.

^^^ right. They wouldn't know the difference and if there's a decent saving to be made it's probably worth it.

Although with my shopping car I've found event tyres are just the ticket.

It's OK for you ordinary folk. You have the time to take wheels of your cars and roll them into Costco.

I am a very important man. Time is money. I just use Event tyres. They come out to you. Bloke in a van changes your tyres carefully. You pay them. Job done.
