After collecting a few zillion flys, I thought I'd better get the 993 ship shape.

So 6 hours later having washed - clayed - polished - and sealed she's looking pretty good again.

You're both pussys, I've been looking at mine for a fortnight and still I haven't finished.
But then I haven't got around to starting yet either. :-)

To be fair mine wasn't to bad before the zillion flys attached themselves, but I was supprised how much shine I managed to get into silver paint.

I remember when you posted pics up on your 911 before purchasing. Yours must be the highest specced 993 I have laid eyes on, and fab looking to boot.
Hope your enjoying her.

Thanks Wozy, yes we are getting to know each other and I'm certainly enjoying her. I've had a good poke around now and have identified a few jobs for the winter months already.

I've also got her booked into OPC Leicester for the Porsche free health check on Saturday, so no doubt the list will be a little longer after that.

I've been slowly working my way through Jackels web site and doing all the jobs/checks that don't need her off the road for more than a day at the moment, saving the more complex stuff for the winter.

Right, straight off keep away from that mans website. I was a happy go lucky kind of aircooled Porsche fan without a care in the world before I stumbled on that site.

Now I have suspension to sort out complete with new 'top mounts' (whatever they are) an RS gearchange is on order and I've already done the damn engine mounts.

Be afraid, be very afraid. He's named Jackel for a reason.

Hi,

I'm thinking of doing same to my 993 Cab on Sunday. What products did you use out of interest?

Hi Lolbert,

I use Bild hammer clay and Poorboys polish and glaze/sealer on mine and have always been pleased. Its a bit more expensive than a "normal polish" but you can notice the difference.

I know what you mean. I'm doing stuff I didn't even know needed doing, fortunatley most are low cost/free at the moment, but I can see a suspension refresh at some point.

That may have to wait until SWMBO recovers from the purchase of the car though. rolleyes

lol.... its a slippery slope.

Know what you mean about the other half though. I'll never forget her face when ripping open a large box from Belguim with what she thought was textile samples (she works in fashion) only to find my pair of 993 silencers nicely wrapped inside after having the RSR treatment at Gerts.
Didn't go down especially well, after I'd sworn no more expense on the 993 last year . hehe
