Hi, when starting my Cayman from cold a cloud of smoke belches out. This only happens when left for more than 12 hours and only when starting, no smoke at all on excelleration. Any ideas? Thanks

Although I am no expert this does seem to be a common theme.

If we are to believe what we read, then you have no problems. Its normal.

Mine does do the same if left in the garage for a week. When I first noticed it I did a search on here and it seemed pretty normal in other threads.

Nothing to worry about unless it's excessive/doesn't stop.

Hi there

This should really only happen on cold/damp mornings or if the car has been washed.

If its doing it every morning, how is your oil consumption? If its not consuming oil your probably fine, if its drinking a lot of oil, get the bores inspected.....

My 2006 'S' has done it once in 10,000 miles of ownership!

It had been stood for a day, the weather was average and it's never done it since. It uses no oil.

Mine does it fairly often but seems in good health anyhow, I hope ; )

Good to know there are others!

Parking the car so it's off-level across the car will increase the chances of it happening. The classic two wheels on the kerb type of angle. Boxer engine feature.
