Boxster advice please
Discussion
A non-petrolhead mate has come to me looking for advice with regards to buying a secondhand Boxster. From talking to him it sounds like an S 987 would be best, and given his lack of knowledge a gen II DFI model would be best. But this is where I'm a little stuck, want to know about 993's, I'm your man but newer stuff isn't really my bag, so gents when did the DFI's start from and what should he look out for. My only concern is that he is somewhat of a spirited driver, and I'm not sure a mid-engine car and the potential for offs is best! I say this as a concerned mate, I've known him since we were kids and he's only ever driven front wheel drive cars - currently a heavily specced '59 plate Golf 2.0 TDI.
I use a well know Indy for mine, but I assume taking a 3-5 year old Boxster to a similarly well known Indy would be fine too from a selling on perspective?
Thanks in advance.

I would suggest a 3.4 S with PASM 19 inch wheels and if possible a Sports exhaust.
I've had mine for 8 months now and think the active suspension flatters the driver a little but the levels of grip are something to behold once you get used to the car. I chose a Boxster because you can 'wring it's neck' regularly. I have yet to have the traction control kick in despite scaring the life out of a few passengers recently although on my own I do tend to get a move on but still feel very confident with the overall handling and the fact that the PSM will kick in if I do something really stupid.
They are great little cars and the low centre of gravity mid engine design does make for a car that anyone can grow into.
