Just had mine done in the Boxster at 70k.
I had noticed it had become slightly 'Whirier' in low gears, 1st and 2nd. Figured it couldn't do any harm to change early. Done at an indy for £120 with filter, while in for its major.
Been out yesterday and today, no more whiring. Oil was dirty but no debris apparently.
