Anyone bought one of these cables and software to read the DME. Thought may as well do it myself as a lot of non-Porsche specialists claim they don't have DME read equipment.

I've seen a lot of these on Amazon, etc and they vary in price from £20 inlcuding software (pirated copies?) to several hundred £s for the Durametric system.

Any advice, experience, links would be appreciated.

Cheers

Jon

I got Durametric as I wanted something that is certain to work and do all I needed.

Just under £400 for the Pro version. You can get the Enthusiast version for less, but Pro version not limited to number of cars. Pro version can do some coding that Enthusiast version cannot.

Does the bluefin unit work on porsche to read DME? Or maybe I should just try it as I have one spare- any risk to plugging these things in?
If so, these things can be picked up on eBay for £100 OP.

Would be good to get some feedback on whether it works. There's some cables that are dirt cheap - c£30 and come with software but of course no one knows if they will work or damage the laptop and/or car!

I picked one up a few weeks back from ebay for about £45 i think, it came with an old version of durametric and v1 cable but worked fine with my mk1 cayman and now my mk1 997.

With the newer software you need a v2 cable that I don't think you can get easily.

Basically its got less features available in the old software and no coding but it was fine for all error codes under different sections of the DME and could get the rev Ranges info as well as printing out live data to the laptop for some other sensors
