On the verge of making 1st Porsche purchase-would value any opinions in advance. Buying from OPC, 2010 Cayman S, PDK, PCM 3.0, 19" wheels, 23500 miles, heated seats, park assist, sound package, sport chrono package, original asking price was price £35000-have got £1000 off that price & they are putting on polish coating-apparently worth £399. All replies gratefully accepted.

You're finally getting it then? :-)

As mentioned before - almost exact same spec as mine which I bought 4 weeks ago. Loving it so far.

The 2005/6 3.4s models, do they suffer the same engine bearing failure problem??

Car sounds a great spec.

My only comment would be push for the extra £400 off and then go buy some good wax. Their £400 wax is not worth it.....

cant believe main dealers are still doing that wax coating bks.
its just an impregnated sponge, probably get some work experience kid to apply it
get the money off, and buy yourself a nice pair of shoes

Was thinking that myself-might try him to include Service which is due in June '14 instead-that should highlight wax not worth anywhere near £400.

Did they try and push GAP insurance? Shockingly expensive via dealer - no justification whatsoever - can get it online much cheaper. I did however take out dealer tyre insurance as their price was the same as I could get online.

They have not mentioned GAP Ins yet. Always pushed for it with any previous BM purchases. I also asked about extended warranty in 2 years time-said costs about £650-leave car in for 111 point check just before warranty expires/charge about £250/fix anything that needs done/warranty issued.

My OPC tried GAP (£700), Bodyguard (£399), Tyre insurance (can't remember), SMART repair insurance (£250 + £50 excess) and finance at something like 11%.

I didn't take anything, if I would've wanted it you can buy everything far cheaper elsewhere.

I doubt they would give you anymore off for the wax protection. As this stuff costs them around £30 max. Also, shop around for GAP, I remember saving more than 70% by finding it myself..

Good luck with the car, sounds very nice!

Each car is different and depends on circumstances, but I would say there should be at least another £1000 - £1500 off the price of that car.

Be prepared for trade in prices around the £26k mark in a couple of months time though....

^^True - just tell them you don't want it. Last time Ilooked up the price for this stuff it was £8 for a whole can! Doubt they use all of it on one car, so not worth it overall.

Thanks all-might just do that-I know there is no comparison in value, but due major Service June 2014- probably chancing my arm but may ask for it to be included in deal-nothing ventured nothing gained. Spoke to 1 boy I know who said OPC don't move a great deal on original price. Thanks all again.

Push for a day at Silverstone - should be achievable, as doesn't cost them much, but is quite good fun.
ETA just seen OP is Northern Irish, so perhaps a track day in Silverstone isn't so good... The wax is a con, perhaps free GAP insurance?

It's the end of the month, a perfect time to sell your money to an OPC target-driven salesperson. Tell them the deal you want and you'll pay a deposit right now to secure and let them decide - they'll either say yes or negotiate a bit with you. Either way you'll get a better deal than you will next week when they're less hungry to get the deal on the books.

Good man-have heard it before about their monthly targets. Knowing my luck this salesperson has probably met them this month!! However will certainly try my luck.

Hmm - mine tried 9.1% APR, GAP £900 and the same for the Body sealant at £400. I tried not to laugh openly .... biggrin
