996 3.6 n/a air filters

as many owners on here will have had their cars longer than me can you guys tell me if there is any benefits to be had from having either the kn filters replacement panel or the enclosed induction they do?
to be honest ive never been a fan of induction kits in engine bays as i prefer the looks of a standard air box.but if the performance/engine health is worth it from the enclosed induction i may consider it

I have it on my 3.4 and it sounds great - as the revs rise on full throttle first the PSE gets nicely noisy then the induction system joins in and it sounds awesome. it's very addictive though, I only get 14-15mpg.
