Can anyone tell me what the standard spec of the 996tS was compared to the 996t please?

from memory, the "S" also had pccb's and 450bhp as per the 996Turbo with X50 pack, prob some other little extras as standard too!

996 turbo S is 450bhp + comes with ceramic discs painted yellow
996 turbo X50 is 450bhp (engine pack upgrade)
996 turbo is 420bhp

Thanks for the replies, so am I correct in thinking that there are no additional extras then apart from those mentioned and everything else would be optional as per the normal Porsche way?

AFAIK the S having the X50 pack as standard means larger turbos and other tweaks making it a bit more tunable, if 450bhp does not suffice.

I have read that this does however make an S slightly less drivable in comparison to a non-S. To be expected with larger turbos.

You may also find a lot of the Turbo S models have PCCB's

Turbo S comes with X50 performance pack (bigger turbos, uprated intercoolers, stronger gearbox/clutch ) & PCCB's as standard. There are probably some visual touches as well

I believe the exhaust has freer flowing cats in the S.

I may be wrong but I think there were a few internal things standard as well, like

- rain sensing wipers
- heated seats
- auto dimming mirrors
- xenons

I've looked on line for brochure from the period but couldn't find one. If anyone has a link to 996T brochures, specs and prices I'd be grateful too.

That's not correct James. rain sensing wipers , xenons, and auto dimming mirrors were standard on all turbos. Heated seats were always an option

Basically this, plus turbo s had internal turboS badges and unique colour options such as Olive Green which was basically very very dark, almost black in some lights metallic green. TTS also had smoked turbo rims standard to help with visual differentiation.

No difference to exhaust in X50, which I seem to recall had less baffles than 420 turbo.

It came with cruise, CD changer and Ali dials which were cost options on standard turbo, so about a grand of interior bits
