Following recommendation on here I took my RS60 to RPM Technik this morning to get my symptoms of an unstable ride checked out.

Turns out there were no issues whatsoever with the car, and I believe that the uncomfortable ride is due to the change from N rated PS2s to Super Sports. I am surprised at how a change in load index can have such an adverse affect on the ride - so much so that I may change back to N rated PS2s sooner rather than later. This is a huge disappointment.

Tyres aside I just want to say thank you to the team at RPM who are very friendly and knowledgeable and who did not charge me a penny for spending 30 mins on my car (their Saturday surgery is free FYI). They have some lovely Pork there too.

Now I can look forward to my PH tour smile

Intersting comment about the effect on ride of the load index; can you explain the different ratings between the two tyres? Presumably the MPSS is not avaiable with the correct load rating?

PS2 N2s are 94Y and PSS are 98Y. Yes you cannot get PSS in 94Y for the 987 Boxster.

I am assuming the tyre walls are firmer or there is another reason why the ride is harder. Either way the car now crashes over bumps and wobbles like you are on a boat when over even small bumps.

I'll switch back to N rated next time.

I'm considering MPSS for my 987 Cayman S next (currently have MPS N2's) so would be interested to hear if others have found this to be the case.

Have you tried lowering the pressures?

Yes though I don't really want to go more than a few PSI below the recommended. The tyre walls are visibly stronger on the PSS.

Worth a try though, I run non N rated Pilot Sport Cups 10 psi below Porsche recommendations for regular road tyres and don't notice a drop off in performance and there's a huge increase in comfort smile
