Evening all,
As I'm aware a number of modern Porsche's have the ability to record peak revs and abuse. I was wondering if a 2005 Boxster has this feature?

The reason I ask is my girlfriends father recently collected his immaculate low millage example from Gatwick valet parking, to find it filthy (was clean when left two days prior) and displaying the message 'Tiptronic Emergency Run'.

The car will only select 4th gear and was struggling to hit 50mph on the journey home. The car is very well cared for, and it seems coincidental that it should return filthy with a broken gearbox after being left for only one weekend.

The supervisor confirmed the car had been driven to the long stay car park so they know it has been moved.

Apologies for the essay, but when the car goes to Porsche tomorrow will it be possible for them to establish whether the car has been hammered during this period? At least then they can rule out if it's an unfortunate fault, or whether the car has been driven irresponsibly.

Cheers.

It will record any overrevs and show the operating hours for the most recent.

not sure that will help as you cant overrev a tip!

Get them to change the tip oil and he will find out if there is debris in it and take it from there.

Some of the specialists who write on here say you can. Examples being over a hump back bridge or down a hill.

But it must be much less likely.

Seems logical to me but as you say unlikely. Please let us know and what recourse he gets from the valet parking if any.

Any record of mileage in and out of the compound?

I have only ever had my 993 valet parked once in Lille, France.

It was unnerving but actually quite funny actually, seeing the tall Frenchman in a butlers suit trying to get in it!

He drove it very slowly!

No he didn't think to write the millage. I suppose all will be revealed when the car goes in tomorrow, I'll keep you posted!

People that check cars seem to say that tips show overrevs. I've checked a couple of PDK cars and they showed range 1 and 2s.
