Driving home today my car started making a lot of noise, the engine still runs fine and everything looks ok but I'm guessing the exhaust is blowing big time.

I can't see any holes or feel any exhaust leaking out but it sounds really bad!

Could it just be the manifold bolts have corroded causing a leak?

I'm now bracing myself for a 2k bill as the exhaust isn't covered by warranty. Either that or the engine is about to go bang ( which is probably preferable as that would be covered ! ).

I think I have found the cause, exhaust leaking from the join between the manifold / front cats and the rear section of the exhaust.

Bolts have rusted away.
