The search begins......My story.

I'm lucky to have nice friends, one who took to the 'ring in his 997.2 GT3 RS and as he has over a 1000 laps under his belt, was 2 days on the track (track days not terrorist days) that some/most people would give a golden pig to do.
Another friend has given me the keys to his 996 C4 whilst he's away on holiday for a week, just to see if I can 'live with one'.

I'm no stranger to quick cars... (Although I'm a Defender Land Rover fan through and through) I've had Westfields, Lotus Sunbeams (when I was in my teens) to V6 Clio, BMW Z3M Coupe, RS Focus Engined Transit Connect...you get the picture.
So, I want a 996, I've just sold my current vehicle.. So cash is burning a hole in my pocket.

I'm looking at post 2002 Carreras, c2 or c4 and may even consider a targa. My budget is £15k max and I thought I'll do a write up, to maybe help in the highs and lows of buying a 996, to help the next guy who will be in my position.
I would prefer buy private, just purely for piece of mind, though I won't turn my nose right up at a dealer.
I can throw a spanner around and I'll be looking to do the IMS on the drive, again for piece of mind.
So, the search begins now and I'll update you on my experiences....wish me luck.

The most important thing is its had a full rebuild and if its within your budget, you could do a lot worse!

Priorities?
Ideally...C2 manual, well looked after. Sat nav not important for me, heated seats would be nice,black leather. Black/grey/silver paint.. Not totally fussed as long as it's loved.
