Hi all

I'm finally in possession of my dream motor - a 2010 gen 2 S, it's superb, will post pics soon.

The only problem is the cable from my iPhone 4 to the PCM jack in the centre console..the official porsche cable is so inflexible that I can't bend it to fit my phone in the centre console behind the handbrake, nor is it long enough to stretch to the cubby hole under the air on controls...so my phone sort of just hangs from the cable, dangling above the passenger seat belt. Every time I firm up the dampers the cable slips out!!

Double entendres aside, is anyone else having similar issues? Whats the solution; a longer cable, something aftermarket?

I trust the 991's PCM 3.1 are full audio & phone via bluetooth - even the Mrs 2011 A1 has no cables to worry about whatsoever,

Thanks, Dmq

My 4S would just fit the cubby with the cable attached - it was tight though.

991S has an iPhone connector in the glovebox for music and the phone is BT.

My 4S and 5 both fit in the cubby but they dont sit flat you have to bend the cable round so the dock end of the phone is pointing to the tail of the car and then it sits in at a kind of angle. I thought the 5 wasnt going to fit with the adaptor cable but it does. Will take a pic in the morning.

Twist the cable slightly and it will wind round itself. Once you done this you can get a small electrical zip tie to hold it in place or let it wind round the inside of the cubby hole where the sides stop it from springing back straight. Job done.

There is a later version of the cable, which has the USB connector for power.

From the IPod connector to dock, it's about three times the length.

...and it is free - you had to pay for the pleasure on the 997.

Really!? I can make phone calls certainly via Bluetooth - but I need to have the PCM cable plugged into my iphone to get music to play...doesn't play over bluetooth. Intrigued to see what I have missed if you can get it to work!

Go to disk > options and tick the Bluetooth aux

Sound isn't as good as it is via cable though

Odd. I had no issues with a 4 and the cable in a Gen 2, though as noted above it does need a bit of twisting about. Much easier with the 5 and the short cable version of the 30-pin adaptor to the new connector.

I can't get my iPhone 5 to play music via the cable (2011 gen2), I'll try the bluetooth option though - thanks craigjm. When I plug an iPod in the system recognises it fine and plays as expected but the phone isn't even recognised, anyone any tips or advice please?

You won't have the Bluetooth option on a 987

What iphone 5 adaptor cable are you using to attach to the original PCM 30 pin version?

The car came with no lead (not the best OPC experience alround I'm afraid but thats another story). I went to my local dealer to get the lead I'm using which is a 9 pin plug with the lead splitting into a usb plug and the wider iPhone plug - I'm putting the iPnone 5 adaptor plug onto that but as said PCM can't see the phone though it can see an iPod when attached. The usb plug will charge my phone but not play/recognise the device when using an iPhone lead through the usb port but again there is no connection recognised so I'm assuming that port is for a usb stick or an SD card reader?

The USB connection charges the device and the 30 pin plays the music from it so you need both the USB and 9 pin ends of the dealer cable plugged in. The phone connects over Bluetooth if fitted for calls. With a lightning adaptor plugged into the 30 pin an iPhone 5 should play just like any other iPod.

Thnaks Craig, we're off and running!! I'd assumed it was a single feed via the 30 pin with the usb an alternative source. Grateful.

I assumed that too when I first got mine and wondered why it kept going flat
