Pics of my first Porsche!
Discussion
I put a deposit on the car at Rybrook McLaren last week after viewing it as it was as near perfect as its possible to be with only 2700 miles on the clock!
The spec is amazing, PCCB's, sports chrono, adaptive seats, loads of leather bits, short shift (which I have to say was outstanding) and a few other nice bits and bobs.
Hopefully the pics work well, but they were done on a phone.

Very nice (and relatively) stealthy way to cover the country, congrats. Did I read that right, 2700 on the clock? For god sake get out there and put some miles on the clock! If there isn't 20k on it this time next year you've failed.
Come to Llandudno tomorrow for Porsche on the Prom!

Well, I finally got the car home yesterday. What an car, the power is amazing, the brakes fantastic and the gear change like an old rifle with the short shift.
Got stuck in loads of traffic after a lorry fire on the M42 diverted holiday traffic to my route home. This gave me the chance to see what the car was like in stop start traffic, and i was surprised. I thought it would be difficult and cumbersome, and wouldn't like the traffic. Well, the clutch has a lovely 'spring' to it, but I did notice at low 1st and 2nd gear speeds the was a bit of driveline clunking, but I think I can get used to this with practice (does this happen on others?).
Satnav was fine, Bose very good, PCM2 generally a lot better than I had read about. I understand that its not up to the standards of modern satnav (including the 13 plate 5 series Rybrooks kindly lent me!), but the general console works well.
Took some mates out for drives, and they loved it, as I do. One of the things I wasn't expecting my mates to say was the build quality, it really is very, very well screwed together and the materials are very nice to the touch. The seats are exceptional, I am still playing around with settings etc, but as someone who occasionally suffers back pain, I am very comfy in the car.
I love the compactness of the car, but I need to be wary of taking the width of it for granted, and I am scared of marking the wheels, or getting too close to kerbs at the front when parking.
Again, the power, it is just silly
I knew it was quick in the lower gears, but the pick up from lowish revs was what stunned me. I have left the sport button on (softer setting on the suspension) all the time, and 50mph in 5th, and needing an overtake doesn't require anything apart from the accelerator for very rapid progress. Cornering was also a surprise, I drove a 997 turbo first at OPC Bristol a year ago and I thought the front end was a bit bouncy. This car is planted, and I did push quite hard on some A roads on the way back. Its really direct and inspiring. The only downside is that I am now scared of it getting scratched! On the way back I parked on a forecourt to get a drink, five clear spaces till the next car and a bloody minivan parked right next to me and a 'well built' chap got out as I walked back to the car. He swung the door open and the only thing stopping it bashing my new car was the 1st stage stop on his door. He didn't look, rolled out of the car, hit my mirror on the way past and spat on the floor outside the shop, nice!
I know there are so many nicer cars on the road, but this one is mine and after saving for 5 years I don't want it scratched!
