PCM internal telephone not available

Hello world,

I have just bought a 2008 cayman with PCM sat nav and telephone it's the 2.1 where you put a sim in the PCM. BUT I have put my sim in but when I press the TEL button the machine tells me the internal telephone is not available. Does anybody have any suggestions before I take it to an OPC and get financially raped.

Do you have the telephone module?

I could be wrong but I think the sim tray is on all the pcm2 head units, but you need the telephone module which is located under the front seat.

I had the same problem as the sim was not recognised when inserted but bluetooth worked fine. Turns out you can have "Telephone Preparation" and "Telephone module" , the former recognising bluetooth and the later having the PCM phone module requiring the insertion of a sim. Check your option codes.
