Spent the day at the PEC today - super sunny and warm, great food and nice cars (that Panny GTS....brilliant)

Anyway, out of the 40 or so people there I won the Batak competition. biggrin

My prize was several hot laps of the track and low friction shenanigans in the GT3 4.0RS.

However, I gave my prize away as I knew I'd be sick all over the nice alcantara and I'd just stuffed my face with those lovely biscuits.... laugh

What was your score?

Mind you, as you seem to live there I am sure your score was very high! wink

Must have been there with a bunch of OAPs if that won you the prize :-)

Good result Zyp. Have they got a new Cayman there yet?

Hey Fezzaman - were you in the RS before 'my' go?

I thought I'd won - the Dr chap who was running it came up and told me as I was eating.
Did you get 43 also? ( not that it matters.... grrrr. wink )

I didn't do the ride as I said - as the kind, and frankly, gentlemanly chap I am, I gave it to someone else.

:smug:

Loved the new Cayman S I drove - orange/black full leather and ceramics.
Loved it enough to change the Spyder?

Possibly.....

Ah I see, I thought you went out and then came back sharpish. Yep got the same, I was in the penultimate group with the batak and was told we'd both get laps. What score did the chap who replaced you get then?

Thought it was a great day, came with a relative who is a current owner, first day driving in over a year due to work commitments, first day driving P-cars, so made it a point to not drive any diesels (although I kind of regret missing out on the Cayenne V8 diesel, all the performance of the GTS but infinitely better fuel consumption, too bad it doesn't sound like the GTS!)

Ah, that explains it - I did mine before lunch so I won first biggrin

I think the chap I gave it to only got 30 ish - he was a nice chap who made us laugh all day with the banter so I let him go.
My mate who was with me races properly, so like all racing drivers is a bit of a prima doña and won't be a passenger around a track.
I offered it to him first, but he declined laugh

Good day though, wasn't it?

Oh yeh it was great fun, like I said it was my first time in these kind of cars (haven't done much driving since passing my test 2.5 years ago, having been a petrolhead as a child I don't want driving to be a tool for getting from A to B but just something to enjoy in itself, just no money!) so was great to not just drive them but have the consultants there to really show you what these things are capable of. Agree the Panny GTS was incredible bit of kit, sounds awesome in sports plus as well and relatively fuel efficient for what it is! Too bad everything yday feels like a blur now, can't wait for the next time!

Apparently anyone who's had their car for 18mths gets invited to keep you sweet and then chop in for the next new toy. So anyone else who got their's tail end of 2011 will get their invites soon (Y). Also bringing a +1 who is allowed to do the same stuff as the owners is new too as before the +1 just got the food and could only spectate
Presumably that's only for cars bought from new? Porsche haven't invited me on anything for ages - and my car's been with me two years near enough - though was used.

As to 43?? Really? They have presumably shortened the time as I scored 63 and my wife 67 when we were there last...

30second limit. And probably yes to the cars bought new, aunt did have a used old model cayenne and they were invited to the one post-purchase, then nothing until after buying their new one, which was delivered nearly 2 years after the first, but as the lead times were quite long at the time, don't know if they would have had one around the time they ordered or skipped as they'd already coughed up a deposit. Chap I met there had his 2.9 pdk cayman for 18 mths from new as well, so maybe Zyp can confirm as well based on how long he's had his?

Bought mine in August 2011, so about right time wise.

My mate was thoroughly impressed with the set up and cars, having only ever driven a 944 many years ago.
He now appears to be doing the man math.... smile

As for the 'only 43' comment - I did have my eyes closed and one arm tied behind my back.

43 in 30 seconds is very good. I think it was 39 that got me 3rd on the leader board at Autosport last year. A previous year I got 74 in a minute and was also 3rd - Jenson Button had the record with the people operating it at the time at 122, but I've seen even higher on Youtube.

I didn't do as well this year but as Pirelli were operating it I was interested in the score, more in watching the tall skinny hot blonde in lycra catsuit demonstrating how it should be done. "I think I get it, but could you just show me again?" hehelick

Is the invite only for those who bought a car brand new 18 months ago or those who bought second hand too (assuming Porsche can get details from DVLA)?

From what I was told by one of the Cayenne instructors the 18mth thing definitely applies to new purchasers, don't know about used. Also I think the supplying OPC/the particular salesperson you dealt with will be in touch to make sure everything's ok etc with arrangements

Guess that's right, they would only want to appeal to those who buy new cars so they can tempt them with their latest creations!

Sounds like an awesome day out though.
