Porsche IMS

Hi all

I have done a number fo searches and can't seem to quite nail the answer to this.

When did porsche drop the IMS from the design, and how can one be sure a car doesnt have an engine with it?

if 997 new improved IMS came in in 55 plate after a certain chassis number. The 997.2 post 2009 did away with it totally. If you want a 997 just get the Porsche warranty then nothing to worry about..

If you are talking 911, it was dropped with the introduction of the 2009 gen 2 997. This has a new DFI engine.

2009 as well I believe. You need the gen 2 facelift.

The 987.2 2.9 engine isn't DFI - does this definitely not have an IMS?

I'm more of a 911 follower, but I understand the 2.9 is 9A1 architecture, i.e. simpler crankcase, no IMS but is not DFI.

Crankcase differs on the 9A1.
