Hi all

My pal wants to remove the intercooler pipe where it joins the Y pipe. (996 Turbo by the way)

Is it as simple as taking the holding clip off and pulling?

Yes, no need to remove holding clip just release it and pull. You don't have much give in either direction so it might take a tug

Thank you

Is damage likely removing and refitting, or can my pal "the ape" carry on with gay abandon?

As above, just remove spring clip and pull, maybe worth renewing rubber seal on hose before replacing depending on age/condition. Why are you doing this?

He wants better access to the MAF

No need to take hose off to replace MAF, just unplug electical connection and remove the security torx screw.

The Torx screw has been rounded off....any suggestions?

Ouch..I'd start by removing the air-box/MAF housing giving you better access to screw and more of a fighting chance of removing it with conventional tools before reaching for the drill! ...or a new airbox!... In your favour is the fact that these screws are not usually that tight and have a fast thread.

Sorted.

Intercooler pipe off allowed access with a dremel and cutting disc.

Cut a groove across the head and used a flat head screw driver to undo it!

Phew.
