A bit of fun although I guess most Porsche owners would fall into the top catagories -

Elite: This is the most privileged class in Great Britain who have high levels of all three capitals. Their high amount of economic capital sets them apart from everyone else.

Established Middle Class: Members of this class have high levels of all three capitals although not as high as the Elite. They are a gregarious and culturally engaged class.

Technical Middle Class: This is a new, small class with high economic capital but seem less culturally engaged. They have relatively few social contacts and so are less socially engaged.

New Affluent Workers: This class has medium levels of economic capital and higher levels of cultural and social capital. They are a young and active group.

Emergent Service Workers: This new class has low economic capital but has high levels of 'emerging' cultural capital and high social capital. This group are young and often found in urban areas.

Traditional Working Class: This class scores low on all forms of the three capitals although they are not the poorest group. The average age of this class is older than the others.

Precariat: This is the most deprived class of all with low levels of economic, cultural and social capital. The everyday lives of members of this class are precarious.

A bit of a laugh. In the elite category. Private school and university. Not me left school with two grade C O levels. Socialise with people who do a wide variety of jobs. Well that is true. I have mates that are very affluent and those that don't have a pot to piss in. If there is one lesson I have learnt in life. Never judge a book by its cover. Visiting museums and listening to classical music. Well if the museum is full of interesting cars then yes. Music would be Jaz. Anyone else out there into Jaz trombonists. See I knew I was in the elite wink

I'm Technical Middle Class according to the survey, which goes on to describe the category as having relatively few social contacts and so are less socially engaged.
If they're trying to say I'm an anti-social git they're pretty bang-on.

Ok, it's a bit of fun, but utterly simple and compromised.

I came out in the established middle class category and would disagree with that. Whatever that means.

I refuse to be pigeon holed. I am classless. wink

Yup, a crock. i'm a council house kid who joined the army as I couldnt do anything else, left skool before I was supposed to under orders of the headteacher, I just worked hard and saved my cash.
And yet I'm in the elite of British society. Hohohohoho

The established middle class is not necessarily high in economic capital. It will be high on social and cultural capital.

Unlike the technical middle class, or nouveau riche as we used to be called wink

Although the survey has me in the 'elite' division, primarily due to a build up of illiquid capital in our house.

I will admit David, that I proled mine up, but only to see whether it was all about innaccurate indicators, which it was. It should have been called the meritocratic performance survey.

Im in the technical middle class. However I reckon if it wasn't for my mrs' friend group and the cultural stuff we do together/she makes me do I'd be in the 'slightly mongy middle clash-ish petrolhead' group.
