Cayman R v's 997 c2s
Discussion
Having had a few Porsches in the past, including early 944's an early Boxster 2.5 and lastly a 1999 996 C2, I am hankering after another.
After seeing a Cayman R in white with black wheels but PDK which isn't my thing, although I haven't driven an auto. (Cant drive that one either as it sold in 2 days).
My dilemma is now do I wait until I find a manual Cayman R in white with black wheels or do I buy a 997 C2s?
Depreciation I would imagine would be less on a Cayman R but correct me if I'm wrong. My intention would be to keep whatever for around 5 years but you never know when you may have to get out of something due to finances etc.
I've been looking at 997's in the £30k ish price range although the Cayman R was £40k, I would spend the extra for the right car so long as I felt I wasnt going to blow £5k if I needed to sell for any reason.
Anyone care to comment?

I am about to buy a white cayman R with black wheels and PDK, so that would be my choice
For me 997.2 C2S would had to have Sport PASM and locking differential(p17 option). Those cars are quite rare. And I would still likely go for the R
(depending on the price somewhat)

I'd agree that a CR would lose less than a vanilla 997 C2s, whilst also being cheaper to run, cheaper to insure and a bit more unusual/different.
However the 997 is still a 911, and the CR is still "only" a Cayman, and there will no doubt be detractors who wouldn't dream of getting a Cayman if a 911 is in budget. That will depend on your personal point of view.
Or if you need even a joke pair of rear seats, the 911 wins - obviously.

Cayman R is the better car and should hold value more so, but I own one so would say that.
(might be for sale in a few months!)
is it white with black wheels and manual?(might be for sale in a few months!)
I've seen a peridiot green one for £36k but having not seen it in real life I am unsure, I think they look amazing in white but not with silver wheels

If you decide to sell, please PM me the details
Shoot an email over to me mate and I'll keep hold of it should I sell. I do have a few others that have said they would be interested depending on circumstances at the time. Took her out for the first time today in a long time and she truly is a special car...just a shame it doesn't have a magic button to move all the traffic out of the way!mrdemon said:
Post you're spec please.
Peridot, black 19" Spyder wheels, manual, sport shift, sports buckets, sports exhaust, nav, extended leather (dash, doors etc), auto air con, BOSE, rear parking sensors, telephone module, audio interface, 7200 miles, warranty until April 2014. I think that's it. General points; garaged, two bucket method cleaning, Swisswax, until this week not used since October!Still not sure I want to part with it for a GTS.
Edited to add Sport Chrono Plus and Porsche VTS tracker.
