I have just bought a 2003 3.2 S Boxster and wondered if anybody could tell me of any important do's and don'ts.

I agree with your second point, but see no sense in your first ... its a car !!!! ;-)

I find the gear linkage to be pretty stiff when it's cold too - all the more reason to wait until it's warmed up properly before 'going for it'.
