Bought it but paid to much??
Discussion
Went JZM on Thursday to look at the high mileage 996 Turbo. Great looking car etc but not for me as I had made up my mind that as great as a turbo is I really don't need all that power for my return to a Porsche after I sold my 996 C2 four years ago.
There were three 996 C4S one Polar, one Seal grey and and Royal blue (sorry don't know it's correct name). The Royal blue car had grey leather which I don't like so that's that one out of the equation. Same with the Polar, just didn't like the colour though it is a fabulous car with a little over 20k 2002 with two owners, the last has had the car about 12 months. There were a few minor issues with the car which were identified by their inspection but these would be rectified before the car was delivered. At £24900 asking price, a bit pricey?
The Seal grey car had more miles and it was a real contender but I decided to leave my decision until I'd seen a private sale Cab. So off I went across To Surrey.
The Cab looked stunning, a one owner since new, 72k miles (a bit high)? 2003 with PCM Satnav, Phone hard top and PSE etc. not a high spec but I just had a great feeling about this car. Full OPC service history with loads of invoices for all the work carried out over it's life. No expense spared, £4k in 2012 including new discs all round, tyres, clutch and oil seal. The car really hasn't wanted for anything. The current owner was a really nice genuine guy. Price £24750? High I know but it's such a genuine car that I had to go for it. So......I did...
Picked her up yesterday and wow I'm over the moon with her (yes early days I know).
Now the fun begins, I want to keep the car as near to standard as I can but want to add a couple of bits, yet to be decided.
Will try to work out how to add some pics.
Any comments re the final price paid £23450 will be hard to read but have to face it. Main thing is I'm a happy boy with a lovely old car with which I hope to enjoy good times...

I bought my C4S 03 Coupe (not cab), X51 powerkit, PSE, PSM, Litronics, sports seats, polar silver etc, 32k miles from OPC for £23.5K, 2 years ago now.
Your purchase sounds pricey to me, but hey, who cares its only money!

Things have changed since then but even so you may have had a very good deal with your purchase.
How is the car doing now? Still got it?
Forgot to say congrats to the op for your purchase. Looks very nice indeed!
Hope you enjoy as I do mine.
All the best.

^ Yea still got the car, she's going well, couple of track days, 4 trips to France and 1 to spain. Just had a major service done, all good. Had to replace a rad last year, had an RMS done under warranty, just the usual stuff. Will try and get into a GT3 as soon as I can.
OP's car is looking like a nice one btw.

Buy a 911 for 20K and spend 5K on it over the next year, or buy a 24K 911 and have nothing to pay on it for the next year or two ...... Who got the best deal?
Horses for courses in my mind, and fingers crossed, no expenditure for you with yours.

A bit late in the day to worry about paying to much I'd say, but if its the colour and spec you want and it proves trouble free then I would put it to the back of your mind.
It could have been a lot worse and you could of bought a dog of a car, at least you know chances are its not been clocked, And if your keeping the car the long term the depreciation element shouldn't have much relevance.
When buying any secondhand car it's worth going on gut feeling as to if the seller is honest or not,
I've got friends.who are good mechanics and they've been caught out and I've walked away from motors if I think the seller is a bit shady.
So if you had a good feeling that the seller and car was straight that can't be a bad thing just enjoy you new toy.

Sorry for any confusion I was really asking if I had paid to much? It was the mileage element I wasn't sure of but with all its history and the invoices to back the sellers claim that the car wanted for nothing, I felt it was expensive ish but worth it to me so I am happy.
Thanks for all the replies.....
