I was just leaving Sainsburys car park in my Guard Red Spyder, at, what happened to be, kicking out time for the local school. A group of 'youths' had crossed the road and were at the junction while I waited to pull out. I heard several comment that went along the lines :"Oh wow it's a Ferrari!". "It's a Lamborghini" (to be said in an 'impressing the girls with my knowledge' voice). As I pulled away one finally saw the word 'Porsche' written in big black letters on the side!

Porsches are an iconic shape (true the 911 more so than the Boxster) HOW can a self-respecting youth get it so wrong? confused I despair!banghead

Even if they don't recognisance an icon this should have been a clue:

Its a bright red sportscar, also its not an iconic shape, the badge could be anything, its also the reason Porsche write their name in big letters down the side ..... they don't do that on 911's do they ????

The new Boxster elicits the same response - when stopping for fuel in a loaned car - "da yoof" behind the till thought I was driving a white Ferrari convertible .... frown

Sometimes I have to open my engine bay to convince the kids round our way that my car's a Porsche and not a Lamborghini...honestly I despair!

No need to open the car, it was on the doors as well wasn't it?

They designed the cooling for the head if I remember correctly. Perhaps they should have been concentrating on the M96 block.... tongue out

Maybe it's also because Ferraris just aren't as individual looking as they used to be. I used to like the shape of the 348, 355 and F40 but ever since around the time the 360 Modena came out they just don't seem as immediately identifiable.

I despair about the yoof of today. The older ones invariably want to know why I didn' get a Subura Imprezza, while the younger ones want to know if it is the same as the one on their X box.
