Hi all - quick question on the Porsche driving Centre at Silverstone if anyone can share their experiences..... I'm thinking of getting it for someone's birthday (the 90 min Carrera one for about
£250 I think) has anyone done it? Is it worth it/fun/exhilarating? Oh and its for girl!
Any views?

I've done several of them. You cover pretty much the same stuff in the cheaper ones as you do the expensive ones. The kick plate, ice hill and skid pan are fun. It is worth doing if you haven't done it before and I think your friend will enjoy it.

Thanks, do you get to drive them quickly around a track
or anything though? Kick plate and ice tracks could be done in a Ford Focus couldnt they?! Appreciate the feedback.

You can take your own car.

If she hasn't done anything like this before and she has some interest in Porsche/driving then she will enjoy.

I've done it a couple of times best if you do a search here, there are mixed views.

Yes I also did the YouDrive one as well where you take Your own car, but they won't let you take it on the outer circuit.

There is one long sweeping straight on the outer circuit where you can almost get to 100 but that's not the point of this track - it's about handling and cornering. It is more educational than experiences such as Thruxton etc so you learn something aswell as having a bit of fun.

Oh and on the outer circuit you may get asked to stay in 3rd all the time like I did in the 3.8 RS and there wasn't enough track to get it beyond 7k rpm!

I've done three of them, but they WERE free! I don't think I'd pay £250 for 90 mins though. Good fun though.

In my opinion the ice hill is a bit dull. The kick plate is tricky, and if it isn't increase by a few mph per try and soon enough it becomes so. The low-friction area is useful. But hooning round the handling circuit is the most fun, particularly as they don't seem to mind you chasing down other cars.
