going by the chassis numbers early cars have a S(stuttgart) after the model year but later cars have a K but some a few still have a S.

Porsches have not all been built in Stuttgart for a while now.

Some Caymans were built in the Valmet(tractor) factory in Finland I believe.

Numerous factories throughout Europe at various times, sometimes its speculated that ticking the factory collection option can decide which factory yours is made at(and some factory collection events are at different factories anyway).

firstly the last car to leave finland was nearly 2 years ago (cayman) before porsche then moved all sports cars to stuttgart whilst awaiting a factory in austria for the boxster/cayman.secondly it doesnt matter but just interested what place the K stood for.

I seem to remember it being generally accepted that the Finnish 986 boxsters had a better er... Finish.

Seriously, I remember buyers guides saying seek out a Finnish car as they are better!

Was it true?

Cayenne not built in Stuttgart I believe. The 924 and 944 wasnt either (apart from the very last 944 and the 968 which was built there).

i think they may be an element of truth as the prodution line was a constant(same model) in finland and not shared.i did read that there were quality issues with the caymanR when it was first moved to stuttgart sharing the line with the 911
