Hi all I own a 2001 986 which Im preparing for time attack events taking place in Enna, Siracusa and Agrigento. Will be gutting the doors on my car does anyone know how much weight can be removed from a boxster door? I weighd one fully equipped its 32.5Kg Patrick
I believe you lose about 20-25lbs per door by taking off trim, removing window etc and cutting off some if the metal work to leave you a shell. If you want serious weight loss you can fit carbon doors as per the Cups.
In addition to what Neil says you could remove the lock too and replace it with a simple catch of some kind. There's probably another kilo or more saving in that...every little helps!
