32 when i bought my first porsche - blue carrera 993 with grey interior...and still my wife's favorite to date
33 first turbo - blue 993 turbo S specced from factory
35 first RS - white 997.1 GT3RS
note: and if i sell the Stradale this year...it will be a second RS: 964 or 993 and for the long term this time (no matter how beautiful the Stradale sounds, i keep lurking at frogs)

...And this one it seems...http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Bit of a oversimplifed survey thats going to give a rather meaningless result I think. It really needs to state something like "Age at which you bought your first brand new 911" or "... used boxster" or such!
Given that you can pick up a beaten up old Boxster for £4k on auto trader (which is pocket money these days) this would be in a different league (and therefore age bracket) to buying a brand new 991 Turbo for instance!
Anyway for what its worth I've added my vote - 39, brand new 997.1 C2S

Oops! I did try and search....
Anyway, mine has better choices
The result is surprising given that Porsche are always saying they want to reduce the age of their driver profile.
I suppose it possibly comnfirms that a young person's Porsche is probably pre-owned.
My first was a 924 in 1979. In its day it seemed light-years better than anything else I could afford; a 3-litre Capri had Ford build-quality and while fast in a straight line, struggled with corners.

It is all very well Porsche saying that, but the cheapest car is £40k in very basic spec, so that will remove the marque as a possibility for 99% of under-40s to own new. When you add in the Top Gear view that the only 'proper Porsche' is a 911 that probably removes most of the remaining 1% as well.I think they are great used buys and I'd always prefer to put £20k into a 5+ year old Porsche than anything else available brand new at that price, but I think most outside of the PH fraternity would think quite the opposite.
21, Cayman.
22, 991 C2.
Plenty of other decent stuff before/in between/in addition. 24 now.
The 991 was a letdown, but I'm very tempted to wait to see the Turbo/Turbo S before I go for another Cayman. As I have no interest in tracking I'm not particularly interested in the new GT3.
