Evening chaps

I'm having problems with my Boxster not starting, it's a 56 reg 3.4S on original battery I believe. I've not been using it much during the cold weather, and the cranking speed has been getting slower and slower to the point that yesterday it failed to start. Also the time keeps changing on the clock, and the windows don't fully close when I shut the door.

I called Porsche Reading, and they want (make sure you're sitting down if you don't know!) £330 to check the systems and change the battery. I asked the service advisor about buying one myself and changing it, she checked with a technician and said it's just a case of swapping them over.

I've since been to Halfords, and the one they specify for my car is 275mm, where as the OEM is approx 315mm. The retaining bracket is one sided, so I don't see how it would fit. Also, the OEM battery has a vent tube coming out of the side.

If there's anyone that can help me with what I thought would be a simple fix, help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Tony

If you no longer have a Porsche warranty then I suggest you buy a replacement from elsewhere. Probable cost £70 to £90.

Fitting can be done by anyone with a metric spanner. Just remember to have the ignition key in I position to save the ears.
