Well after years of thumbing through pages in magazines of various RS's & thinking "one day" this weekend was that time & that day smile

I bought the car at the back end of last year & in to storage it went, fair to say winter has seemed extraordinarily long & you can only polish something so many times ....
So Friday was the day to properly "scratch that itch" & over the weekend 200 + miles of honestly pure pleasure.

I throughly loved my 996 GT2 (580 bhp) to death that i owned for a few years but it had to go at the back end of last year, i was really worried that the RS wouldnt be as "entertaining" as when the turbos came in hard on the GT2 it's acceleration was simply superb. I also had a 35 GTR that was a very very quick car but that was also sold as "just in my opinion" it felt soul less after a while - almost clinical with me purely there for the ride whilst the computer trickery did the rest.

Friday was a very nervy day, cover off, stupid grin, key in the ignition & then FINALLY it was time to play.
After 230 miles well - no it's not as quick as the GT2 in a straight line, but it's absolutely no slouch, yes you have to work the engine a little harder to make rapid progress BUT it's worth doing so as the noise is intoxicating. What has utterly blown me away is the sheer poise, balance & handling.

Taking the GT2 to Spa numerous times over recent years was just amazing & after fiddling with suspension goodies etc the car was very well mannered indeed BUT ...

The RS is just something else - it feels almost telephathic & "go kart" by comparison - no drama, no fuss just sheer grip followed by more grip - regardless of suspension settings it simply stuck to the road inspiring more & more confidence. When it did start to wag the tail a little it was predictable & utterly compliant.

All in all I am just over the moon that it has not just met but actually blown away my aspirations - how often have we all wanted something only for the reality to be a "bit of a let down".

I cant wait now for spring/summer to appear properly, i can honestly say that there is no other car out there that i would even contemplate getting more excited about right now - we have a lot more bonding to do smile

The wife still hates the colour, whilst my 3 boys love it - most importantly i love it smile

Your wife is correct!

Only joking. Great car. I'm sure you'll have a memorable summer in it. Enjoy.

Hi,

You bought the car last year and has been in storage until now........ How the hell did you cope with that?!

Lovely looking car, in one of the best colours too.

Enjoy!
