In praise of OPC/warranty
Discussion
Quite a lot of OPC/warranty bashing on PH, in which I have in the past taken part (dont get me started on batteries and warranties). However...
Cayman S developed a very strange squeak from rear wheel arch. Couldnt figure it out. Booked into Bristol OPC. Car was looked at whilst I was test driving a new Boxster S (fabulous). Turned out that a stone was jammed between caliper and disc. Diagnosed and fixed without charge. Noted however that car had a steering rack leak. Car booked in under warranty for 4 hours labour plus parts, I am given a hilarious 991 demonstrator in white, with full Martini stripe decals for 2 days. Used it to do my home visits and probably caused more heart attacks than I prevented. Returned car having given it a fine workout. Total cost to me £35 for petrol in the 991.
OK I accept we all pay for the service we get through pricing, warranty and service charges. But on this occasion I have to say it was probably worth it. Thoroughly enjoyed myself

I have to agree.
I heard a strange clonking noise when leaving work the other day and discovered that one of my front coil springs had snapped and a whole coil was hanging around the damper.
I phoned Porsche Assist and the car was quickly recovered with a hire car arranged for the next day.
The OPC phoned to say both springs are being replaced and the wheel alignment will be done afterwards.
After reading lots of stories about other warranties only replacing the spring on one side I am very impressed.
With the other work I have had done in the past year I think it is definitely worth the money.

You only used £35 worth of petrol in 2 days in the 991, I know they are more fuel efficient but I am sorry............PH FAIL
+1
Had a Boxter S for a day and a half 2 weeks ago whilst mine was in for a service and it cost me £60 in fuel; and I didn't go anywhere...but at 8000 rpm it does not half drink it!!
