Has anyone swapped their rear spoiler on impact bumper 911 for a flat engine lid? If so how much for the new lid, badging and paint?
Thanks
Mark

I think you can just unbolt the wing and replace with a grill, shouldn't cost much.

No new lid needed, just unbolt the spoiler and replace with a grille, although the paint may be marked where the spoiler sat or be a different shade (due to not having been exposed to sunlight), which may or may not be possible to rectify by buffing/polishing.

There will be holes that need filling and painting too. The plastic flat lid grill is £££ new and hard to track down 2nd hand.

What colour is the car - might be easier to just find a flat lid with grill, you might even luck out on the colour.

Some would say that you need to remove the font spoiler if you have removed the rear although I think this is only really relevant @ >100mph.

It depends what car you start with. An spoilered SC uses a different lid to a 3.2 and will need a new lid at £560 plus VAT, plus the grill at £111 and a few fixings. The lid then needs painting and fitting. With a 3.2 you can remove the spoiler, fill the holes and paint, then fit the grill as above.

I used to have a 3.2 when I was in the US, and this question used to come up a lot on their forums. It was always stated that if you removed the rear spoiler you were very strongly advised to remove the front one as well.

If you do make the change I am sure you can sell them and recoup part of the cost.

My advice would be to get a plane bonnet and grille. More cost, but then you would have both options for the future.

And, yes, agree you should also remove the front rubber lip. That was Porsche's advice in the '80s and evident on the 3.2 Speedster.

I never realised planes had bonnet, I thought the engines were wing mounted.
Well you live and learn.

Plus one on Jevvy's answer.
Get a hold of another engine lid.

Non sport 3.2 carreras were supplied with a lip spoiler on the front valance.
As were M491 supersports.

The front lip issue was yankee horsest.

I've got a plastic grill somewhere. PM me if you're interested.
