Space Saver Spare

I just tried to inflate the space saver spare on the wife's 944, and it inflates 'lopsided', I.e. only one side wall unfolds the other one stays stuck in the folded position. What is the solution to this? Is it just to inflate it to a pressure where is 'pops' or can I put it on the car and drive it a few metres? I have stood on the tyre and jumping up and down on it does break the seal a little.

What pressure are you inflating it to?

From the manual:

For 8 PR 89 P Tyres - 2.5 bar
For 4 PR 83 P Tyres - 2.2 bar

I haven't taken it to any thing like that pressure, as it was so out of shape, my thoughts where to go over pressure, but I wanted to see if any one had the same problem first, the tyre is I assume from 1985 so putting a high pressure in it scares me a bit.
