Hi all,

I know there is snow on the ground and I’m freezing my @ss off waiting for the train each morning, but spring and summer aren’t that far away and so my thoughts increasingly turn to driving the Mk1 6GT3 even more.

Am going to get a fast road geo and corner weighting done just to check all is as it should be, but was also after people’s opinions on aftermarket roll cages (half one I’m thinking). I have no experience of them so would appreciate some advice, thoughts and opinions on the following questions:

- Is it worth putting half cage in if not tracking (have 944 trackslag for that)?
- Does it make an appreciable difference to the drive?
- Are they easy to take out and return to original spec?
- Any idea of rough cost fitted?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

As you are not tracking it and do not need securing points for harness, there is no point in a half cage

Half cage will make no difference to how the car drives. Even a bolted full cage makes marginal difference. A welded full cage makes the car noticeably stiffer.

I put a Tequipment aftermarket cage in my 6GT3 before Christmas. There is absolutely no difference in the way it drives. But I wanted it for harness location and the (admittedly small) additional rollover protection it will offer in case of a crash.

Great thanks - just the kind of advice I was after! I'll keep it stock then.
