986 Spoiler Failure

Afternoon all.
The rear spoiler on my poverty Pork 986 seems to have failed.
You hit the magic 75mph and rather than the spoiler raising the warning light comes on.
The manual switch doesn’t work either, but the fuse looks ok.
Could it be possible that during the snow, and subsequent freeze / melt cycle the mechanism’s got iced up, to the point when it tried to operate and blown the motor??
Any thoughts gratefully received.
