My 996 locks itself when i am inside car, I know they are supposed to do this , but i noticed in manual that porsche can alter setting to stop this. Can i do it my self through the key/ alarm fob ?
It seems a bit risky on current setting as sometimes i start car to defrost & go indoors ! if i forget to open window i would be screwed..
cheers

Hi

The changes need to be made via the Porsche diagnostic computer, any decent indie will have the correct computer to do this.

They are not that stupid! If you are just de-icing car it won't lock. Only when it gets to like 5mph

It's probably more risky going indoors. I'm sure I saw something on the news the other day about an increase in car thefts when the weather cooled down because of people doing this, and car thieves simply get in the car and drive off.

You should be ok if you don't move the car, the doors only lock when you are doing about 5 miles an hour, Mine does the same.

Oh guys , did not relise that it only locked once moved car, thats ok, can put up with that! I just remember it locking me in all the time..
regards people nicking car while defrosting & not in car, where i live no one would ever do that.....More annoying neighbours knocking door worrying that i have left car running & forgot...

Am I right in thinking that a copied key blank, but non-programmed, would open the car door if the programmed key is in the ignition.

If so, it might be a wise move to hide a non-programmed blank on the vehicle in a location that can be accessed from the outside.
