Cheer up, OK so it may be a bit ghey to some people to acknowledge a fellow 911 owner, but the 2 miserable sods in 996s I acknowledged today looked at me like I had just killed their dog!

You might have startled them. Do you have a moustache?

Oh ok. Perhaps they are the sort that get acknowledged all the time, but not in a friendly way. By the time they registered you weren't suggesting the use of manual labour in the trouser department they didn't have time to wave back.

To be clear I was in a 996, not just acknowledging in a random stalker type way...

Get over it, there are thousands of 911s about nowadays and I'm normally too busy scratching my arse, picking my nose or on the phone to be asked to acknowledge another Beetle owner!

Ah, the fact you were in the same model as them may not entirely alleviate the doubt in their mind you may be a random stalker type.

Which reminds me of Borat attempting to hug that guy in NYC who completely panics and legs it and he ends up chasing him down 5th Avenue.

The borat thing reminded me, when I said I was wearing a bowler hat, that was all I was wearing. I also had the roof down.....

Have you ever been to Coventry? Now imagine that you lived there! Even with a Porsche you might still feel pretty miserable.

;-) ok ok, Coventry is not so bad. I used to visit Marconi occasionally and my wife and I were married at Coombe Abbey. Next time we drive in the area I will look out you and wave!

Buy a Lotus. I was behind an old Lotus Elise on the way into Goodwood for Supercar Sunday last year and every bugger in a Lotus coming the other way waved as if they were family.

If you don't want to sell the 996, how about buying a Lotus badge and putting it on the bonnet?

I think 997 owners are more miserable than 996 owners!
