ADVICE PLEASE - CAYMAN OR BOXTER
Discussion
A Boxster is better value for money as they sold for less than the Cayman and they are more of them. Cheaper starting price, more supplied, lower residuals. As implied, there will also more Boxster to chose from.
From a driving perspective, the roof means that the body of the Cayman is stiffer, so the chassis is set up for even better handling. I have owned several Boxsters and driven a couple of Caymans. If you are not too fussed about looks (or image?), then it comes down to ultimate handling prowess versus the ability to drop the roof. Personally, the ability to drop the roof on a Boxster and hear the fabulous engine bouncing off the scenery easily outweighs the handling advantage of the Cayman.
Something like this is great value for money.

Hi,
I went from a Boxster to a Cayman. Both daily driver and about 20k miles per year. I found the difference to be very marked. Firstly the Cayman gives a much better ride in terms of comfort, even though mine is on 19 inch wheels and the Boxster was on 18's. I think this is partly due to the better rigidity of the Cayman body.
Cayman also has slightly better vision when parking etc.
Obviously I have lost the ability to enjoy open top motoring, however, after last summer I really don't miss it!
All personal opinion of course but I much prefer the Cayman. If I were to buy another new car and the choice was Boxster or Cayman then it would be Cayman every time.
Not sure that helps you much but just my experience. Good luck with your search. I am sure you will enjoy the experience whatever you choose.
One other thing, Basalt Black is the fastest colour!

Apologies for going off track a bit, what sort of fuel consumption are you achieving on 20,000 miles p/a- I assume most of this is motorway/dual carriageway? Cheers.I went from a Boxster to a Cayman. Someone asked about Cayman MPG.
Mine was a 2.7.
Got 23 locally, but I live in mountainous Mid Wales and do quite short trips.
28-32 is par on most runs that comprise predominantly A-roads or M-ways.
Highest I ever saw was 34.6 doing a consistent 75 on a M-way run from Cardiff to Dover.
3500 mile road trip in Europe average was 30.0, lowered quite a bit from what it would have been by the much faster motorways over there.

Cayman is a better drivers car due to the roof and has more kudos if you worry about that kind of thing.
But if you want roofless action, the Boxster is your only choice! I quite fancy another Boxster.
Both cars are great though. You need to drive them both and decide whether the difference in handling and ride is noticable for you, or if you'd prefer the roof-off ability along with more choice in the marketplace.
MPG around 25 if you cain it everywhere, 30mpg if your a fan of motorways.
My Best mpg in the Cayman...
