Looking for a bit of advice if possible.

I drive a 2002 996 C2. I have been offered a set of 16 inch Cup style wheels with winter tyres from a 993. Does anyone know if are they likely to fit my car?

I'm not sure about whether they'll fit over the brakes but shouldn't be a problem.. However, the offset on 993s is different to 964s and 996s (which are interchangeable AFAIK) so for the rear at least you'll probably need spacers. I found this out when I put standard 993 16" Cup wheels on a 964 and they rubbed the inside of the wheelarches. eek

As long as the 993 was a narrow body then the offsets are compatible. However, the 996 was never offered with 16" wheels. IIRC, the 986 Boxster S had the same brakes as a Carrera and a little googling indicates that 16" will not clear the brakes on that. If my memory is correct (cross checking part specs appears to imply that it is) then the answer would notionally be no I am afraid.

That said - the spare saver spare is a 16" rim, so it is possible that some styles of wheel might just clear them, though they may need spacers and certainly aren't recommended by Porsche.

Thank you very much, very helpful. I will pass on them. If anyone has a 993 and wants a set of winter tyres/wheels, please let me know.

I think so, the information I have is that they are 16 inch 993 Cup wheels fitted with 205/55/R16s and 225/50/R16s Conti Wintercontacts, one of which is flat.

Thay may be 8" rears then. If you post the part numbers I will tell you what they are. The numbers are easily recognised starting 993.362., on the rear of the spokes.

Front will be 7", not 7.5" as I stated.
