Mostly theoretical, but how much weight can be easily removed from a 997 GT3 without going bonkers?

Very little - changing the wheels for OZs is probably the cheapest and most effective option - if you do than and fit Alcon or PF brake disks you lose more weight than putting ceramics on instead of steel. Obviously you can go to the fabulously expensive Porsche Lithium battery or a lightweight racing pack to save a bit more but after that you are into ripping things out (airbags, carpet, replace seats with racing shells, lose belts for harnesses only, etc... All of which save more than deleting the stereo, but are really only incremental). Then you are into big spends for marginal returns (carbon wings/roof/bonnet and titanium exhausts).

we supply fibreglass, kevlar or carbon bonnets, bumpers, front wings and if you have a cage doors aswell for many models inc 997. i think we will be quiet tomorrow with the weather so ill weigh them at lunchtime. a massive weight saving can be had with these panels, the doors weigh a ton! i know the interior has tons of potential to loose weight for a track focused car the foam backed carpets and electric seats are so heavy. ill weigh some cup car ally bonnets as well. im a fan of colin chapmans theory of 'to go fast ad lightness, so this subject is right up my street
