Hi guys,

Just wondering what does a Sports exhaust system add to a Cayman S? Is it literally just a louder and therefore perceived as a "nicer" sound to the car engine when revving or just when stationary? Does it mean the engine is louder inside and outside the car? I just wanted more information as to what the Sports exhaust system does to the sound of the car. Thank you much appreciated.

It is a great addition to a Cayman, sounds a little fruitier at tickover and low revs and really howls under hard accelleration and high revs. The standard exhaust is too refined in my experience.
However, if you are looking at running your car outside of the OPC warranty and find a suitable car with everything but the sports exhaust you can always get the gundo hack done on the standard system. This permanently has the system in loud mode and only costs £300 ish.

I've got PSE in my cars and it's brilliant. It generates a much richer and louder engine note. If you have Sport Chrono, it sounds particularly good in Sport+ mode. It doesn't offer any performance gains, if you're out of warranty, you may want to look at aftermarket catbacks from Fabspeed, Akropovic and so on. PSE is switchable as well so if you live in a quiet residential area, you stand a chance of not being vilified if you set off early on a weekend. wink

There are lots of YouTube demos online and on the Porsche website with comparative audio clips. Have a listen to those.

Yes, the sports exhaust can be switched on and off. It sounds better inside the car when it's switched on and a hell of a lot better with the windows open in a tunnel giving it the beans laugh
