Over the past couple of days when it has been well below zero all day and every day the screen washer has not worked (it was full of washer fluid put in by Porsche so not sure of the mix) as it was frozen up.

It was making the whirring noise but no fluid coming out.

I tried to defrost it this morning and fill it up with much more concentrate - but no luck and now there is no whirring noise as if the pump is not working.

With my BMW this happened and once it defrosted the pump starting working again.

Will the Porsche pump come back to life or is this a trip to the OPC? Any thoughts welcome, preferably charitable wink

I would say that its more than likely frozen up and will probably come back to life once thawed out - whenever that may be. smile

There are 2 different screenwashes, one Summer and one Winter.

The summer one is green, and is better at cleaning bugsplats, and the Winter one is a differnt colour and stops it freezing
(depending on concentration) which one was in yours, and when did they put it in?

Thanks - I think it was green - hmmmm - everything is frozen up now!!! Luckily it is superdry as it is so cold so the screen is staying clean.

I have put concentrate in yesterday so in theory that should now be well mixed in and should have worked it's way into the pump.

Can take the concentrate a while to seep through.

Do NOT put in too much concentrate, as it can cause probs too. Just have to wait...or keep your car in a warmish garage for a day or so!

Several OPCs (inc Reading) have told me Porsche do not make a winter screen wash. I was advised to use VW's as that is for spray type washer nozzles. [Nothing to do with being part of VAG though!].

Have I been misinformed? Where can it be bought from?

A) Is your 991 not garaged? B) What are you doing taking it OUT in this weather? Only joking!

a) The garage is still in the planning phase

b) Of course - it is real world car - I used to drive my GT3s all through the snow and ice! Far better car in snow than a BMW. If it gets really snowy (i.e. deeper than the splitter) I will use the snow tyred X5.

As if by magic the pump has defrosted (it was -8 last night) and all working for the first time in three days! biggrin

Sorry, I meant where can the Porsche winter screen wash be bought from - the OPCs that I have spoken to do not stock it or know about it.

Porsche always seem to top up with the summer stuff (and sell a you "complementary" bottle when servicing the car.
However these cars seem to use so little that they tend to still be on summer grade when winter arrives. Having been warned about not mixing brands I pumped out all of the Porsche stuff last year and re filled with the brand I use in everything else at 50% dilution.
No problems here since.

Motor still made a whirring noise but nothing came out
