I have a 996 with a Porsche radio. I don't have the radio code. Is the radio code the last 5 digit number that is printed on the body info sticker?
Failing that how do I get the radio serial number? It must be printed somewhere or readable on the radio in some way. However, there is nothing in the radio instructions that tells me about this.
Any advice welcome before I contact Porsche.

Hi Hilux,
You should have a radio key code card in the history file, if not you may need to ring the main dealer.
I doubt it's a five digit number or anything to do with the chassis number, mine's a 4 digit code.
Mine is also in the seperate audio handbook, again in the history file.
Like I say a call to the main dealer with your chassis number would probably see it sorted but there'll probably be a charge.
PS. No-one's scribbled it onto the casing of the stereo in the past then?

CR-22/CDR-22 - Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds after you turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed. Rotate the right knob (slowly) and it will display the Becker model number. Then rotate it again and the serial number should be displayed on the radio.
Or, if the radio is out of the car the then the serial number is on the label.
CR-21:
Press tone, then 8 and 0 simultaneously. "Becker" appears. Press station up arrow on right. "PR-VERS" appears. Press one of numbered buttons below display, directly below the LCD arrowheads (try a few). The model number will appear. Press station up arrow on right. "SERIAL N" will appear. Press the numbered button again. The serial number will appear.

I have been reading elsewhere that the code for the CDR 23 radio can only be changed or put in with the aid of OBD equipment, making it vehicle specific. I am right in thinking that this radio obtains its own rolling code from the vehicle ECU? Therefore, if the battery goes dead, or it is disconnected, the radio, like the fuel gauge, just sorts itself out in its own time.

It isn't a rolling code, but yes the code is stored in the DME and the code in the radio is compared each time it is powered up. Therefore there is no user-entry code. H
All sorted many thanks
