No stupidly I backed into one of my other cars with my 981s not even run in cry cry cry, however minor scruff only on Porsche . so I take it to two Porsche approved spray shops via the Porsche dealer, same identical quote , one in Sussex and one Bristol way guess the difference ??? Sussex £1600 and the other £650 rounded up.how the hell can this be, tripled checked the estimates no difference in work.

Guess my answer but food for thought , still a lot of bucks either way but its anew car and I want no issues at all. I emphasise no dents no scores just scruffier the paint.

Estimate quote strip and repaint both suggesting 1/4 rear panel as a very tiny scruff there as well .

I am gobsmacked

1600!

Must be a proximity to London weighting?

£1600 is an awful lot!

I need the front bumper of my GT3 doing in the future due to stone chips. This will turn into bumper, bonnet, side skirts and wing mirror covers I think and I'll be hoping to pay £1k max. I'm oop north though.

If the paint isn't broken through (as you say no dents or scores) take the car to a detailer first.

It's amazing what they can do. If a machine polisher won't take the scuff out, you can wet sand it with 2000-3000 grit wet and dry paper then buff the area up. I do this on imperfections on my cars. It's scary at the "sanded but not buffed yet" stage but turns out great. I get the feeling you wouldn't want to sand your pefrect new car though, so visit a professional.

ETA - Just seen the quarter panel comment. That will add a bit on obviously due to having more items to strip off it etc.

I think the charge is as others have said "London prices" , sad but I guess if you only lose one in 100 clients I would do the same

Either price is extortionate from what you describe as being needed. I had a front bumper removed refitted and resprayed for £150!

Last time I checked via my OPC (and our very good indy) it was approx. £1,100.00 for a full front PU, bonnet, scuttle panel, both front wings painted up to a diagonal blending point around the fuel filler cap or there abouts. Hopefully less the PCGB discount and then plus VAT. So about £1,200.00...

Still way too much if you ask me and then I would have to do Amourfend or similar protective film if I did. So thats another £500 on top...

Who said keep the paint original and enjoy that paterna of age and enthusiastic use?

Very wise words thumbup

Martin - My lad has just had some severe scuffing sorted on front bumper/skirt of fairly new frozen white Focus ST2 by the guy at the roundabout on the junction of the A259 Ferring with the new Roundstone By Pass. Great job and very good price. Might be worth you going south on A24/Findon Valley/Patching to get him to quote.

Guys, try Ben at Finish First, he has done plenty of Porsches and is better than Porsche quality in his work. He personally used to do the work for Mid-Sussex at his previous job. www.finish-first.co.uk

Cheers for the rough cost David. You're totally right too when you say you'd want to Armourfend it once it was back to pristine condition.
I'm just gonna run mine this year and get it done next winter.

I'll liberally slap a bit of Chipex on the affected areas when I detail it in the spring. smile

I had the front PLU, bonnet and wings repainted on my previous 996 C4S for 500 Quid all in. That included removing/refitting the front lights and the bumper was removed for prep and paint.

Sussex will be using SL Restoration (Crawley/Gatwick). Contact them direct, it will be cheaper.

Somebody scraped my front bumper in 2008 and Bodytechnics in Slough did it for 250.

Not necessarily. I saved a lot going through OPC for the same job - plus your repair is guaranteed for life which it isn't if you go direct.

I have excellent t reviews of this place , sadly because the car is so new I feel it has to be done by an OPR to keep warranty. But NOT at £1500 no dents just a scruffs

If it helps OPC Cambridge have their own body shop and are both excellent and reasonably priced but it maybe too far for you to go.
