997.2 Turbo PDK - Ex-Demo?
Discussion
I've decided to upgrade from my Gen 1 C4S to a 997.2 Turbo PDK. PDK seems to make more sense for me right now than the manual, although I'm sure I'll miss the connection.
I have been offered a May 2012 PDK Turbo which is Ex-Demo and with 6.5k miles on the clock for around the £84k mark, my question is this:-
1) Does it represent good enough compensation for the Ex-Demo status?
2) This is a PDK, so over-revving shouldn't be an issue, but cold starts obviously would be?
3) I plan to keep it for 3-5 years, it comes with OPC 2.5 year warranty and sold by them, so I would buy the warranty once it runs out in accordance with the 8 year rule, so any problems shouldn't be my problem?!
I'm not so worried about being the owner of an ex-demo car, that won't affect my enjoyment of driving the beast, but just wanted your valued opinions and at what price it would make sense.....
Thanks in advance

Christ, how much was that new!!!!!!Lovely looking example.
Ad says was £138,458 new in June 2011....that's £53,608 depreciation in 1.5 yrs and 6000 miles.
Or a cost per mile of £8.93 (excluding interest on finance, insurance, fuel, road tax, servicing etc)
Bargain
Come to the conclusion I'm definitely in the wrong line of business !

Seems like a bargain for an under a year old £125K motor!
What did you mean re over-revving a PDK? Can't you elect to hold it in gear hence you could over-rev, no?
I just mean that it will hit the rev limiter on the way up, but unlike with a manual, the PDK doesn't allow a "money shift" on change down if the revs aren't right; moneyshifts are the worst. I would of course get a DME report to make sure.....What did you mean re over-revving a PDK? Can't you elect to hold it in gear hence you could over-rev, no?

On general principles I'd give the car a miss.I have been offered a May 2012 PDK Turbo which is Ex-Demo and with 6.5k miles on the clock for around the £84k mark, my question is this:-

"Ex-demo" might be another way of saying "press car" and these get treated horribly.
The fact the car is being offered at what to me appears to be a considerable discount from its new price and with so few miles is a red flag.
Nice well spec'd turbo 6/11. This was at OPC Glasgow - seems to have moved - pretty big spec list 138k new now up at 85k

I have it confirmed in writing that is is neither......
Ok, then the car not anything other than a demo. If it doesn't bother you many claim that right after a rental car the fastest car they ever drove was a demo, then go look at the car give it a test drive and if you still like the car then arrange to get it PPI'd.If the car checks out to your satisfaction then buy the car.
Still, the price seems to be below market at least it "feels" below market. But I'm not current on market prices for these cars. If your market research finds the price is market then that eliminates the other concern I have about the car.
