Anyone know if there is a way of stopping the front boot light from coming on when open, other than removing the bulb? i.e. a method of opening it which doesn't trigger the light, or an auto-switch off after a set amount of time?

At the moment my car is outside and not being used much, so I'm plugging in a ctek conditioner as and when I can, but due to the nature of the setup, have to leave the front boot slightly open to feed the power cable through (too thick to close completely).

I can figure out whether the bulb being on and battery conditioner plugged in is actually helping the battery, or merely powering the light!!!!!

Does it have its own fuse?

I have a bad track record with Caymans and interior lights. I was on the Elan Valley mountain road near my home with mine one night and pulled over to take some photographs of the stars, as soon as I stopped the interior lights came on and being so dark up there meant it was impossible to see anything outside. Somehow I forgot to apply the handbrake and I could only tell I was moving when I hit a huge lump of grass a good 25ft from where I'd parked. boxedin Never did find how to keep them off.

Pull the connector off and reconnect just one of the terminals, leave it hanging.
Make sure the engine bay lights' not on when you open the front trunk
If it is do same.

If you get a screwdriver and click the latch shut the light will go off.

Take a look at my thread here... Closing the boot (bonnet) should not be a problem with the CTEK lead which is of the thin type.

Alternatively get the 2.5m comfort lead extension which is what I use now and no problems closing the boot fully and leaving the car locked and alarmed

I was just going to say I've used the screwdriver method. Don't like doing it because some force is required, but at least now I know the car is getting the full charge.

sootyvrs, yep, it was me in discussion with you on that thread; I can't use the extender at this stage because then I'd need to leave a power supply outside, where as at the moment it is stored in the front boot with the charger.

All this removing the car cover and plugging in a few days a week (during the day only because I live in the countryside and the cable would get chewed by badgers!) is a bit of a PITA, but hopefully we'll have some dry days soon and I can take the car on a decent run...hasn't been used in 3 weeks now!!!
