Morning all, my Boxster lives outside and now the bad weather is upon us every morning I am faced with condensation build up on all of the glass and it's taking some time to clear, I assume this is due to being a convertible.

Is there anything I can do to reduce/prevent this? I was thinking one of those moisture blocks but I am not sure if that would work.

Get a hardtop, makes a massive difference in winter, pretty cheap to pick up as well

Also make sure your water drains are clear two in the rear and front under the battery

Strange that because I only get condensation with the hard top fitted?

Could be that your door seals / membranes are starting to perish an d you are getting a wet carpets on the underside of the doors? This can cause condensation so worth a check.

No wet carpets, it's an 11 plate 987.2 so I doubt it would be anything like that

Give your carpets a check and make sure there's no evidence of a leak or dampness. Then get some small moisture traps, they are about the size of lurpak tubs, open them and put in the car. Check round your local pound shops , they sometimes do them at this time of year and they are alot cheaper than the homebase ones.

Checked door carpets, dry as a bone

If you are only doing short trips this doesn't help. I was commuting around 25 miles up until recently and never had any condensation problems. I'm doing much shorter trips now and am getting quite a bit.

My 986 used to be like that, never leaked a drop, all drains clear - it's just what they do in the colder weather.

You might consider getting a "half cover" it just goes over the hood and windows and really helps the situation.

Put it in the garage !!!!

Most house seem to have a garage , but am I the only person to actually use mine lol.

No one round here seems to use their garage, which is great for me as I keep all my other cars in others people's garages lol.

My new-ish 987 did that too. Never 'cured' it or bothered to check why, just assumed it wasn't as well sealed as a tin-top and carried on.

Could it be damp carpets due to water carried in on your shoes? Just a thought.

Are you using AC? This will clear condensation

As above use the aircon all the time during cold and wet weather, it dries the air coming into the car, it's not just for keeping you cool

Yup use the AC all the time over winter but in a morning I need to mop the screen if it's been cold overnight

Try renovating all the seals, including the screen to roof rubbers. Clean them and apply gummi pfllege (BMW do it and also there s another Swiss/German similar product whose name escapes me )
