Just bought a 59 Cayenne Diesel, last of the 957's as the price difference was too huge for the times I'll use it. However, already I can see the -ve reactions of other drivers and pedestrians! Been undertaken in town, scowled at and just generally feel that I have to drive like a Saint so's not to attract any more vitriol.

Is this common???

It might depend where you live, I occasionally get looked down on for having one that just looks too old (it's 2006) making me look like a pauper.

Did I mention I'm in Cheshire? rolleyes

I managed to get a decent 1 owner, black one with reasonable spec & PCM for £25kish... Stuck it through the Porsche 111 point check and got a clean bill of health! If I like it I'll trade it in a couple of years for the newer model..hopefully! Just wasn't prepared to spend an extra £19k for a 6 month younger model, albeit a different car.

It doesn't 'say' Diesel, it's just got the black Cayenne badge on the back. Hate knows no reason! Just ask my ex. smile

Not too bad. Bit much for me for a work car. I'll just have to settle for the random anger I get.

It's your imagination and ego colliding that makes you think, everyone else thinks your special just because you drive a Porsche.
Are you sure these other drivers don't already know you ?
Why FFS do people post this ego st on a car forum ?
Do you really want people on here ( and plenty will) to pat you on your little head and say how awful it is and how bad other people are ?

It's a car FFS!!!!

It's a DIESEL Porsche - sorry but those two words should never be used in the same sentence!

LOL at Bill Stein! rofl

But I would say that generally 'posh blingy 4X4' type vehicles are looked upon badly by the masses.

Rightly or wrongly, thats just how it is.

Just wait until you see what reaction you get from an aircooled beard!

People are weird , I used to drive a fairly new mk 2 golf gti , never noticed anything . Drove a 320 BMW for a week and it was a horrible experience . Nobody would let me out of a junction I kept being cut up .
Got back in the golf and things were fine .

Haha, how little you know me... No, the point is, I've never seen a negative reaction to a car like it. It came as a surprise, not likely to be my imagination and I haven't been looking for it. Ego? We all have them, but mine isn't related to a fecking vehicle!

Had my 59 plate Cayenne for a year and never once had a negative reaction, nor have I had a positive one. Its a nondescript black 4x4 in a sea of other 4x4's.

And here's me thinking that Cayenne's were compulsory once you got to Cramond... Up here in the frozen Northlands, my X5 is just regarded as a bit effete and the 911 merely eccentric.
