I have -20mm SPASM with no PDCC.

It rides like a Jag compared to the RS. I am astonished how good the ride is and when I was speaking to one of the instructors at Silverstone he said they had just got a car in and he said it tightened up the ride nicely on the circuit.

It's my view that PDCC and -20MM PASM is not needed for a "daily driver". Apart from the cosmetic change, extended spoiler etc. no added value. Its been suggested to me that the ride, comfort thats is, from the lower ride height is harsh, but as with many things like this its a personal thing.

I've been driving a 991 with SPASM and ceramics this afternoon. On A and B roads it is too stiff to parry the bumps and pot holes and is downright uncomfortable. On dual carriageways with roundabouts it is better than a regular PASM as far as body control and direction change is concerned, but for A and B roads and through towns and villages, not pleasant. Only my opinion. I'd rather drive a GT3RS, which is no less 'harsh' and at least has a characterful engine to distract you from some of the bumps!!

I am totally confused by these comments - I guess it is all relative - however harsh is not a word that comes anywhere close to my 991 S. The RS wasn't harsh in the way the 996 was, but the 991 is smooth as butter by comparison and I live at the ends of a country road.

If this is true, the standard 991 must be like driving a goose down duvet!! smile

Is it me or does anyone else find SPASM a rather unfortunate acronym.

'I paid extra for SPASM'.

Hmmm.

Nonetheless, very effective tech. As you were.

SPASM has improved from the 997 version but IMO needs PDCC to cope comfortably with urban driving and rutted roads. Steering feel is noticeably improved by SPASM and the stance is perfect. I would have gone for both but for the fact that he cab is lowered already as standard and SPASM ain't an option.

I find the 991 very sensitive to tyre pressures so any of the comments you receive need to be filtered through the prism of that observation, though lord knows how you might do so.

Have to disagree, while mine is not my daily driver I drive the car fairly regularly in most conditions, my car has PASM and PDCC and the ride surpasses my previous GTS without compromising handling response, it would be my de facto option on a 991. Interested to know what pressures you're running BnB, seem to remember you played around with your GTS (as did I).

I went from RS to GTS to 991S.

To me the GTS felt compromised - neither fish nor fowl - too harsh to be a grand tourer, to soft to be the road racer.

The 991 seems to bridge the gap - cosseting for general use, tight and sharp when pushed on.

Are we talking about pure sport mode - even so it is still much more compliant than the RS.

Hi,

Anyone running a 991 car with the -20mm suspension?

I've had a normal 997 carrera and a GT3 but thinking of 991 for daily drive.

Is the -20mm too harsh? I've had a drive of normal PASM suspension 991 S, which rode very well but I do like the 'stance' of the -20mm as the standard suspension does leave bit of a gap in the arches....

Not had a drive of a PDCC car but reading mixed reviews?
It's only -20mm from the standard 991, the 'S' is -10mm lower

I've done 11k in 7 months in my 991s with -20mm and its sensational....had it on all recent cars and this is the best yet...much less crashy than my x5....almost could describe as comfy on an A road /mway/town trundle...I live in the middle of rough B roads and can't wait for the blast home every night...

I tried both before committing and went for Sports chassis - I don't think ride comfort is at all compromised. I also have PDDC and I am frankly in awe of the Jekyll and Hyde character - one minute dissecting a B road with GT3 precision, the next cruising almost silently at motorway speeds.

Not sure where you are, but if you are local to me happy to let you try.

Cheers

Running comfort pressures. 34R 31F cold fill at 20 degrees C ambient. With the OEM Pirellis in warm weather these rise to 40R/37F pretty fast and I wouldn't want them any higher. The winter tyres she's wearing now are filled the same but never seem to rise much further than 35R 32F owing to the cold, wet surfaces.

I had problems running comfort pressure, the tyres were sometimes rolling too much in the side wall and handling felt vague. I am back up to the higher recommended.

That's what I've been running, might give comfort a go though, may be more suited to the cold temperature.
